The Model That Puts You In Business For Yourself, But Never By Yourself.

Pennsylvania Life Insurance Company (“PennLife”) was founded in 1890 and today provides a variety of disability income products for working Americans and senior market products to consumers nationwide. PennLife’s sales force of 1,100 agents truly represents the values, ethics and diversity of our company.

Pennsylvania Life Insurance Company has assets of approximately $1.2 billion* and revenue of $232 million*. Our parent company, Universal American Corp. (NASDAQ: UHCO), provides the strength and support necessary to compete effectively in today’s competitive landscape. Universal American has assets of approximately $3.3 billion,* revenue of $1.3 billion,* and $3.3 billion of total annual premium* in force. This financial strength has allowed Universal American’s insurance subsidiaries to achieve secure ratings from A.M. Best & Co., the nation’s oldest and most trusted rating agency.

Why join PennLife? Our unique “franchise type” business model puts you in business for yourself, but never by yourself. The PennLife model has three major components that make it truly distinctive in the financial services industry today. These components are:

  • the marketing component,
  • the financial component, and
  • the management structure component,
which provide the framework to build your business both today and in the future.

Whether you’re new to the insurance business or an experienced sales leader,
PennLife has the model that will help drive your success.

The Marketing Component:
PennLife takes great pride in providing our agents with the support and incentives to drive premium growth and your continued success.

A key aspect of the PennLife marketing model is Senior Solutions®, the brand and marketing strategy that differentiates our company, our offices and our agents in the senior market.

Senior Solutions® provides the umbrella for our portfolio of health and asset protection, asset accumulation and non-insurance senior care products and services.

PennLife offices with the highest volume of senior product sales are designated as “Senior Solutions Centers.” These offices introduce senior market products and services to the consumer through an integrated program consisting of:

  • Trade Advertising
  • Point-of-Sale Displays with Brochures
  • Consumer Advertising
  • Office Signage.
As an exclusive program for our agents, Senior Solutions® has a strong sales and marketing platform to build our agents’ businesses. Qualified representatives receive Senior Solutions® lapel pins, pens and other awareness building items that help promote Senior Solutions® on sales calls. For agents wishing to distinguish themselves even further, there is an online accreditation program whereby they may earn the “Senior Market Specialist” designation.

The Financial Component:
The unique PennLife financial model is designed to encourage long-term financial security, reward sales growth and provide career development. PennLife offices function similar to franchises. Managers are responsible for growing sales, managing expenses and running their business on a day-to-day basis. Managers reap the rewards of their efforts through the equity they build–all without the initial monetary investment required for similar business opportunities.

The company provides the product, the financial capital and the back office support, with the manager owning the profit or loss associated with his or her office. The model includes:

  • Progressive income growth through renewal commissions
  • Quality of business bonuses
  • Persistency bonuses
  • A deferred income program
  • The opportunity to earn stock and stock options.

Additionally, our leaders earn a portion of the profits as managers as they develop new offices. The manager is responsible for hiring, training, developing and building his or her sales force. The company offers online recruiting assistance that furnishes our managers with more than 25,000 candidates per year in addition to more traditional recruiting methods. Other programs include an online pre-licensing program and access to discounted Continuing Education to help build teams successfully.

The Management Structure Component:
The PennLife model fosters a manager/agent-oriented culture and the processes to learn the PennLife sales system and sales strategies. Successful agents have the opportunity to become managers, and successful managers have the opportunity to build and grow their own businesses with the backing of PennLife’s considerable resources.

Why Choose PennLife?
PennLife’s growing reputation as a senior market leader provides credibility. Senior Solutions® provides the sales and marketing approach for our offices and agents. With our unique model and its components, you will build your franchise to unprecedented heights.
